Star Staffing, a women-owned business for nearly two decades has officially become certified as a Women Business Enterprise (WBE). The nationally recognized certification requires the completion of a stringent process. For businesses, particularly federal, state, and local governments and agencies, the benefits of working with a WBE company include diversifying supplier channels, tax incentives, and new opportunities for revenue sources. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51 percent owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or women. Star Staffing is 100 percent women-owned by CEO, Lisa Lichty and Vice President, Nicole Smartt.
There are 11.6 million women-owned businesses, employing nearly 9 million people and generating more than $1.7 trillion in revenue. The report is based on U.S. Census Bureau data adjusted by Gross Domestic Product data each year. Nearly 13,500 of these firms are WBE certified.
